Frequently asked questions
Do you count everyday items?
For a Detail Archive Inventory, we count and record everyday contents within the agreed scope—including plates, forks, and other household items. Similar items are grouped with quantities; significant pieces receive individual entries. A Snapshot Inventory does not include detailed itemization of everyday belongings.
What will I receive?
Your completed records depend on the inventory service you select:
Snapshot Inventory: Room photographs and identifying details for the major appliances included in your service.
Detail Archive Inventory: A detailed room-by-room record and master itemized list with photographs, descriptions, quantities, and locations. We include accessible model and serial numbers and identifying details for significant pieces.
Specialty Inventory: Photographs and item details tailored to your selected collection or category, with supporting records and owner-provided history included within the agreed scope.
Your completed files are delivered digitally for you to download and keep.
How is the price determined?
Your estimate reflects the property size, volume of contents, additional spaces, collections, and level of detail. We confirm the scope and provide a personalized estimate before work begins.
How should I prepare?
Choose your priorities. Identify the belongings, collections, and rooms that matter most to you. Let us know which items need special attention so we can confirm they are included in your scope.
Prepare family history and provenance information. Consider which items have a story you would like preserved. Note who owned them, when and how they were acquired, and any meaningful family connections. This information is recorded as owner-provided history.
Gather supporting records. Set aside relevant receipts, warranties, appraisals, certificates of authenticity, and purchase or ownership records you would like included. Match documents to their items where possible; we will confirm what is included within your selected service.
Make items visible and accessible. Ensure the agreed rooms and storage areas can be accessed safely, and prepare any boxed or stored items you want documented before the appointment. We do not pack, unpack, or remove items from shelves. If necessary, we may use a ladder to document items more closely.
Who should I share my inventory report with?
Depending on your goals, you may wish to share your report with loved ones, your attorney, an executor or trustee, or your insurance agent or company. It can provide a helpful reference for estate planning, family discussions, and insurance documentation.
Your inventory may contain sensitive information about your belongings and their locations, so share it only with people you trust. Your attorney or insurance provider can advise which records they need.
Is this an appraisal or a will?
No. We document belongings. We do not assign values, prepare legal documents, or decide who receives items. Your inventory is an organized record to share with family and your chosen professionals.
Can the inventory also be used for insurance?
The photographs and itemized records can be shared with your insurance agent or insurer. Ask them what documentation they require; an inventory does not guarantee coverage or a claim payment.
Can you document business locations?
Yes, by arrangement. Tell us about the location and contents so we can agree on the scope and provide an estimate.
How do I get started?
Request an inventory and tell us about the property and your goals. We will review the details with you before confirming the scope and scheduling a visit.
